The Princess of Wales's Traditional Yuletide Musical Celebration Honours Community Volunteers

Her Royal Highness has organised her annual Yuletide celebration at the iconic London venue, with guests including members of the royal family, famous faces, and community champions who have helped their communities.

The sizable congregation will enjoy a blend of carols, music and readings from actors such as Chiwetel Ejiofor and Kate Winslet.

A Theme of Kindness and Compassion

The central message of the service, held in the glowing Westminster Abbey on the afternoon, is kindness and showing love to others.

In the audience are Anna and Jonathan Cordiner, whose daughter died of a brain tumour, and who founded an organisation, a support fund, to help households where there is a terminally ill child.

"The time, care and compassion you give, often discreetly and without words, and without any expectation or recognition, make an profound impact to the well-being of people," the Princess expressed in a message before the concert.

A Steady Comeback

The Princess of Wales is continuing her own measured re-emergence to the public eye subsequent to her illness and medical care, in November making her initial major address in two years, in which she reflected on recognising the "quiet, often invisible work of caring".

Music and Opportunity

Attendees entering the Abbey can listen to budding artists backed by the Future Talent charity, co-founded by the Duchess of Kent to widen access to musical tuition.

Carys Wood, aged 18, who plays the trumpet and is from Wales, has been helped by the charity, with grants helping towards musical instruments, lessons and travel costs - and she said it was "incredible" to be taking part in the evening's event.

"Musical pursuits are frequently pricey," the musician remarked. She is now a student at the prestigious music academy, and added that "each individual ought to be given the possibility" to hone their artistic talents.

Generations Gathering

Her younger sibling Eliza, aged 11, who is a euphonium player, will also be at the Abbey. "I never imagined I would perform in front of so many distinguished guests," she said.

Among the guests will be individuals spanning multiple eras.

That will include young Saphia Turner, nine, winner of a prize for youthful altruism, who sells artwork and carries out sponsored challenges to generate funds for community pantries.

Festive Decor and Performances

The Abbey has been festooned with handcrafted festive wreaths, with well-known chef Mary Berry and flower expert Simon Lycett assisting in their creation.

Taking to the stage will be singer Katie Melua, the Abbey's own choir and a maritime folk band from Cornwall, the Fisherman's Friends, who said the invitation to sing was "the icing on the cake for us."

The Together at Christmas carol concert will be broadcast on television on December 24th.
